(Kathleen Zelman) One of our
viewers has a family member with
chronic kidney disease and wants
to know more about the diet.
Well, I can give you
some general tips,
but each diet for an individual
with chronic kidney disease
is very tailored to
their condition.
So, that person surely
is working with a doctor
and a dietician to customize
their specific type of
diet based on how well
their kidneys are working.
But in general if your kidneys
are not working as well as
they need to there are
some changes you can make
in your diet that can
help protect the kidneys.
But, if you've had a transplant
or you're on dialysis,
these tips are
really not for you.
In general, you need
to limit protein,
because protein can
stress the kidneys,
but yet protein is an
essential nutrient
that we need to get enough of.
So, protein is usually
limited to somewhere
between five to seven
ounces per day.
Sodium is another area where
there's a strict limit on
how much salt and sodium
you should be consuming.
And so, in general, you need to
look for low-sodium products
and get the salt-free
version wherever you can.
Read labels. Learn terminology.
That anything with
the word sodium in
it means it contains
some form of salt.
And, if you're gonna
use a salt substitute,
that's something that you need
to check with your dietician
or doctor to make sure
you're using the right kind.
Because some people also need
to monitor their electrolytes
and some minerals like
potassium and phosphorous.
And sometimes the
salt substitutes are
made with these ingredients.
Fluids may also be limited.
So, you need to know how much fluid
you're allowed to have each day.
So, there's all kinds of
variables to the diet.
And, like I said, it's really
individualized and needs to be,
because the diet
changes over time.
As your kidneys improve, or as
your kidney function changes,
the diet changes accordingly.
But, it's really important
to get enough calories and
calories to have energy and
to help fight the disease.
So, it's a very
delicate balance,
and you really need
to work with a
registered dietician and your
doctor to make sure that
your diet is exactly tailored

I'm gonna show you a juice cleanse recipe

some signs your kidneys need to be detoxed
or cleansed? So a real visible sign is if
your experiencing eczema, or acne or skin
rashes, anything like that. it's a manifestation,
externally that's happening internally. taht's
one thing. if your feeling fatigued, and tired
all of the time, and you don't know why. it
could be because your kidneys need to be cleansed.
you experienced weight gain and bloating very
easily. if your gettiung moody, and you don't
know why, you know your driving out the road
and all of a sudden Fitlifer, you have no

busy breaking down food, it can give you time
to heal. the analogy that i like to use is
like hiring somebody to work outside in your
yard and they're digging a ditch every single
day for 24 hours. That's the normal digestion
process. when your eating food, it has to
break apart the fiber, you nee to extract
the nutrients. when you juice, its like going
out to your yard and telling that person to
take a break! You grab the shovel from them,
you hand them the juice and for 15 minuites,
they get to rest and they don't need to break
down all that food. So when your fasting,
that's what happens. Your body takes time
to heal. So fasting is one of the greatest
miracles on this planet. i'm convinced to
that. that's why we've created the 5 day detox.
it's a 5 day system so that you can detoxify
and get balance into your life. What's this
juice recipe? So let's get on with that! Radishes,
one of my favorite things to juice, now you
need to be careful with radishes because they
can have a really unique flavor. it have a
very strong, and they can heat up the juice
quickly. So were using 4 radishes. Normally
when you juice ragishes, you wanna juice somthing
sweeter like the watermelon to really off
set the imbalanced flavor profiles. Radishes
are awesome because they are anti-inflammatory,
also anti-fungal which helps clean out parasites,
anything in your body that you don't want
there. Red cabbage. Red cabbage is loaded
with vitamin U and VItamin U is great in healing
the stomach. People with ulcers have reported
that juicing red cabbage can actually dissolve
some of that ulcers. Watermelon, this is one
of my favorite things in the kidney detox.
When you juice this, a lot of people would
just cut out the meat which is loaded with
water which supports your kidneys in detoxing
as it is, but when you juice the rind, its
loaded with vitamin A and Vitamin C and also
citrulin. Citrulin converts to argenine in
your body which is a powerful amminos. especially
for the guys in the gym, the girls that go
in the gym, they want pump, Argenine is gonna
help pump you with that. it's gonna increase
your vascularity and help your kidney detox.
Parsley is loaded with nature's best carotenoids.
Did i say that right? Carotenoid? What do
you think Fitlifer? and is absollutely amazing
for you and anti-cancer properties in parsley
as well. Cucumbers are awesome, loaded with
silica great for anti-aging loaded with hydration
but the biggest thing about this recipe is
when you add carrots to it, this is loaded
with beta-carotene. And together, they work
at flushing out the body's natural pathways
of uric acid. absolutely unbelievable. it's
gonna add a nice juice recipe for the juice
as well. We have celery, one of my favorite
things, celery helps to flush out the sodium
in your body. Great to help heal out your
kidneys. Alright Fitlifer, for this recipe,
were doing 4 stalks of celery, we have a quarter
of a watermelon, a quarter head of red cabbage,
2 carrots, 4 radishes, and 1 cucumber. Alright
Fitlifer, here we go! A little pulp there,
its good though. Like i said before, the radishes
have that strong flavor. but when you combine
it to the watermelon, its like music in your
mouth! This is awesome! Oh God! That's great!
Your gonna love this recipe Fitlifer. Its
gonna help detoxify your kidneys. the simple
juice cleanse recipe is absoulety amazing,
but remember, its not just about juicing.
You gotta change some elements of your life
too. So if your constantly, chronically stressed,

you've probably need to rethink some of that
